2005 Week 14Written by Adam Jones Uhm, OK. Really, I don't have much to write. I guess I could get in a couple of paragraphs about perhaps the least competitive day of the college football season - on championship day, no less. Other than that, we might as well wait around a month for the big finish. It's not like we have playoffs to watch or anything. Sigh. Texas blasted Colorado 70-3 to start the day and then, almost as if they had been watching the game in the locker room - and they may have been - USC throttled UCLA 66-19 just to keep Reggie Bush in the Heisman lead. UCLA was allegedly ranked 11th going into the game. Georgia put away LSU 34-14 in the only game of the day that was supposed to be a close defensive struggle. This was hardly an upset and to add injury to insult the Tigers lost JaMarcus Russell to a separated shoulder. Florida State won the ACC by going up 27-3 on Virginia Tech (yes, that Virginia Tech) and stretching the game out to preserve a 27-22 win. West Virginia avoided an embarrassing loss to South Florida, 28-13. Louisville did the same, beating UConn 30-20. Remember the Fresno State team that played USC an honest 60 minutes? Yeah, I don't either. Louisiana Tech 40, The Other FSU 28. Impressive Showing of the Week: The 13 Colorado fans who stayed in their seats at Reliant Stadium until the final gun and didn't even throw debris on the field. 1. The Juggernaut and Texas 3. Penn State 4. Ohio State 5. Auburn 6. Georgia 7. Notre Dame 8. Oregon 9. LSU 10. West Virginia One week thirteen kudo goes to alert reader C.O. from Austin who called me out when I humorously referred to the Florida Gators as the Carnivorous Amphibians. Carnivorous Reptiles maybe, I guess taxonomy was never my strong suit. I'll chime in on the bowls in the annual JTT bowl preview, but to further fill your down time at the office stay tuned for a special JonesTop Ten Best of 2005. It will be in your inbox on Wednesday morning. Gotta go, Reggie Bush just scored again. login or register to post comments | email this page |
